This article explains why anchoring is required for the Astreea Igloo, the anchoring options available, and how to choose the appropriate solution based on your installation surface. It is intended to help you plan anchoring before installation begins.

This article does not replace the installation manual or the anchoring instructions included with your product.

Why anchoring is required

Anchoring is a required part of installing and using an Astreea Igloo.

Proper anchoring helps:

  • maintain structural stability

  • prevent movement during wind or changing weather conditions

  • support safe, long-term use of the Igloo

The Igloo must be anchored to the surface where it is installed. Operating the Igloo without anchoring is not recommended.

Planning anchoring before installation

Anchoring should be planned before you begin assembly.

Before starting installation, you should:

  • identify the surface where the Igloo will be installed

  • decide which anchoring method is appropriate for that surface

  • ensure all anchoring components are available on site

If anchoring accessories or anchor screws are missing when installation begins, assembly should be paused until anchoring can be completed correctly.

Anchoring options available from Astreea

Astreea offers anchoring accessories designed specifically for the Igloo. These options are available for purchase on our website and are designed to work with the Igloo structure.

Planter weights

Planter weights are designed for installations on hard surfaces where drilling or permanent fixing may not be desired.

They:

  • are positioned around the base of the Igloo

  • provide stability through weight and placement

  • are designed by Astreea for compatibility with the Igloo structure

Planter weights are commonly used on surfaces such as concrete or stone, depending on site conditions.

Metal spikes (for earth and soil installations)

Metal spikes are designed specifically for installations on earth or soil surfaces, such as grass or compacted ground.

They:

  • are used to secure the base frame directly into the ground

  • are suitable only where the ground allows proper penetration and holding strength

  • are designed by Astreea for compatibility with the Igloo structure

Metal spikes should not be used on hard or paved surfaces. For surfaces that are not earth or soil, alternative anchoring solutions must be used.

Anchoring with anchor screws or bolts

Anchor screws or bolts are not included with the Astreea Igloo.

If you choose not to use Astreea anchoring accessories, you must source appropriate anchor screws or bolts from a local hardware store. These must be selected based on the surface where the Igloo will be installed.

Surface-based selection

The type of anchor screw or bolt required depends on the installation surface, for example:

  • concrete

  • wood or decking

  • stone or other hard materials

Selecting the correct anchoring hardware is the customer’s responsibility and is essential for safe installation and use.

Important anchoring considerations

  • Anchoring is required regardless of Igloo size

  • Anchoring must be completed as part of the installation process

  • Anchoring solutions must match the surface type

  • Improper or incomplete anchoring may affect stability and safe use

Detailed anchoring instructions are provided in the installation manual and should be followed carefully.
